about us

Pilchard Cottage is a traditional 19C fisherman’s cottage in the heart of Brixham's Fish Town.

A minute's walk from the door and you will be on the picturesque harbour frontage.

The cottage is so called as many years ago, fishermen used to store their catch of pilchards in a tank that was built under the house. The pilchard pit has long since been filled in, but this was a common occurrence with cottages of this era.

The accommodation has been totally and tastefully refurbished at the end of 2020. It is now a very cosy and bright space to enjoy the many original features the cottage has to offer. The oak beams and stone walls marry up perfectly with the modern kitchen and clean white en suite shower room. The bedroom offers a luxury king size pocket sprung bed, filled with
sumptuous layers of lambswool from the sheep on nearby Dartmoor, ensuring a very comfy nights sleep.

In a nutshell, if you are looking for a quaint cosy cottage to stay in whilst you explore all that Brixham and the surrounding areas have to offer, then Pilchard Cottage, situated in the harbour bowl, could be the one for you.
